Interesting HL2 Mapping Video / Runthrough By DAZ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7FZAuWfNNg

I just started watching this so I could take the piss out of his voice. 40 minutes later and it's still interesting the whole way. Particularly Daz's critical analysis and the evident progressions through different map versions. Recommended viewing!

Retro Blazer is an aggressively old-school 90s shooter that feels like a cross between Wolfenstein 3D and Mega Man X. It is a Quake total conversion running on the darkplaces engine. The first playable version is now available.

http://www.retroblazer.com/

Quake Sounds RMQ Patch.

Restores back all the original 'classic' Quake sounds in the RMQ mod. For player, weapons, items, monsters. Mutes some offensive sounds (taunts, laughing knights). It dramatically changes the feel and the atmosphere of RMQ mod back to Quake. Now all the 'Quake purists' and whoever disliked the new sounds can enjoy the mod.
Minor fixes:
Replaces fugly 'temp' texture on the blaster with less ugly (quick job but hey its tolerable)
Adds some glow textures for the buttons\switches, now you wont miss them in the darkness, makes map progress more clear in some badly lit areas.
It's easy to install: just unzip and drop this Pak0.pak into RMQ folder and it works. Try it, don't like it - just remove the pak.
http://www.quaketastic.com/upload/files/Quake_sounds_RMQ_patch.zip

RemakeQuake Winter Demo 2011

Here's the d/l link: download
The RemakeQuake blog with screenshots: blog
And our public forum for feedback: forum

The pack consists of four large levels by myself and Ricky along with a load of new Qc, sound and engine features. Shortly we'll be releasing the tools version as well, which features the BSP2 tools. A small detail was omitted from the readme, that being the correct command line of:

-game rmqwinter11 -sndspeed 44100

Let us know what you think, this has been a long time in the making, but we're pretty pleased with the results.

Return To Na Pali: Ultimate Edition

Spotted this one at UnrealSP:

This is a fully polished Return to Na Pali conversion for Unreal Tournament with all the great features of oldskool. It also contains the cut Unreal Beta maps in a finalized form, together with the RTNP adventure. Here is a full list of features:

- RTNP conversion to UT, without the pesky bugs that have come with previous RTNP conversions.
- The original 17 RTNP levels with bug fixes, texture alignments, game play enhancements, and more. Some maps have been given the treatment they should have received when the Expansion pack first came out!
- 10 new levels, completely restored from Beta content of Unreal. This content was originally cut from the official game. It has been modified to fit right in with RTNP, including proper transitions between levels. All of it feels right at home in RTNP!
- Restored beta content has been completely revamped. This includes better lighting, enhanced game play, new stories, added RTNP content, texture alignments, technical revisions, and much more. None of it is in beta form any longer, but finalized.
- Restored music from the beta releases, which are used in the new maps and even some of the old maps.
- Implemented Oldskool features, including permanent carcasses, weapon decals, scoreboard with kill counts, and more.
- A great menu system created by Integration.
- More of a challenge when used with the 'Limbo Difficulty Mutator', which has been included with this conversion. This is recommended for veteran players who found the original RTNP to be too easy!

Apparently, you don't need the mission pack to play this one - all the required files are packed in the archive. UT with Oldskool seems enough. Looks like a gift for those who hadn't had a chance to play the expansion before.

http://www.unrealsp.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2187

Q1SP - Retribution Of The ConeScript By VIE888

Short fantasy episode for Nehahra, features hub-based RPGish gameplay. Released in 2007.

Retribution of the ConeScript is a Quake 1 Mission Pack. It offers an rpg style, but it is not a rpg game. The Main story is - that you are a warrior, who has been killed in the battle, your soul is held in the purgatory. You have to accomplish a few quests. These are the rune quests. You have to get 4 runes. Each rune has it`s own map and each map is different from another. It means, that you must complete it, each of them on it`s different way. You`ll start in the Trader`s Town, here you can buy an armor and a weapons from the proper shop. You can also listen to the words that are told by every character in the town (some of them helps you accomplish the quests).
RotCS is a fully playable prototype of the project I never finished.

Screenshot
Download&Info
Nehahra

Darkplaces is recommended. BJP's nehquake works, but there are grey flashes in the town map and no support for the ogg music.
