Dm_overflow Officially Released
Although I guess all the people here who give a shit have already played it, here's a formal news post proclaiming the release of my first (and probably last) foray into both Source mapping and Deathmatch mapping.

dm_overflow :
AKA New Odessa Overflow Monitor
AKA Lube Rymdpromenad och Klumpesnusk

Best suited for 2-4 players, all depending on how frantic you like your action. This map is more centered around gunplay, rather than mindlessly flicking physobjects around with the gravgun.

A boat lies stranded in a dried up dock, whose walls are blown away to provide access to a warehouse situated right next to it. Outside the warehouse a broken old jetty overlooks the overflow chutes of a crumbling hydroelectric dam, a place where the combine have set up a small monitor station in case any citizens should ever emerge from the dam's pipe system. Mysteriously, a simple teleport device has been rigged up inside the lock... IT IS A MYSTERY!

PLEASE ENJOY OKAY THANKS

In other news, I've now moved my website from planetquake over to spawnpoint.org. I've also split it up into a quake section and a hl2 section, just to keep things clean:

Barney Calhoun?
Get the fuck outta here.

Viva la Fife!
Czg
Solid map this is. The only HL2DM map I've played which gives it a run for its money is Rebar, that is an excellent map but only good for maybe 4-8 people, it's quite large you see.

Still, great mappage you funky Polwegishian dancing machine.

HAven't tried it yet, but why 1st and last?
Yes
i'd like to know why this is your last map for the source engine? anything in particular you didn't like or is it something else?
Nice Map
Very fun to play on.
Server Running...
Cyber Slam (where I'm the Admin) is now running dm_overflow on the 'cyberslam.com.au - DM 2' server (in Australia).

Its lots of fun :]

My guess behind why it did not win - too small, thats all.
It Didn't Win?
Bleh, no justice in the world. Although I haven;t seen other entries, someone of them could pwn.

I do think though, as Tigger hints at, that the HL2 community is only interested in ridiculously oversized maps suitable for slowpaced 32 ppl teamplay where you spend 4 days getting across the map due to the ever-irritating sprint mode...
Why No More Source Mapping
1: I don't really like DM. It's just not fun imho.

2: Single player mapping for hl2 is really restricted because you'd have to tie whatever you make in with the story Valve already have created. They created the world for which you have the assets available for, so whatever you're going to make will be set in that world. Also all mapobjects are funkily scaled and hard to fit into your geometry. Have the Valve modellers never heard about the motherfucking grid?

3: Assets are locked away and utterly uneditable. A major step back compared to all previous engines.

In defense of fascism though, the Hammer editor is pure sex. (Though it could very well have had a "search for model..." feature.)
Bleh
Only one screenshot sucks, gimme more cause I don't have HL2 here...
Oh and the face on your site looks like the Laughing Man from GitS.
Meh.

LIES. Or at the very least there is plenty you can do within the context of "You are Freeman and you are fighting the Combine or Aliens somewhere"...
Eye Opener
1: Agreed

2: Yes, you do have to tie in with the character's story, but that doesn't mean that Freeman couldn't get teleported (with the new timelapse story twist) into.... say.... the Quake universe. New monsters would be needed, but thats something i'd like to do.

It sucks to hear about the sh*ty mapobjects scale.

3: Assets are locked away and utterly uneditable??? Now THAT does blow chunks
LOL

oh.. yea.. Maybe let's then make such an attack at HL2 community. Some kinda Quake promotion from fucn_msgboarders.

omg ignore me, I just couldn't let this weird idea stay only in my head after reading this.
Meh?
I just couldn't let this weird idea stay only in my head after reading this.

You could have tried a BIT harder, though.
YAEY
Oh cool -- 'bout damn time it was official.
