you infused the neutronical "!"
i thought it was something a bout negative kinetic energy negke
Lol Mike Wtf
do a google search for kona carmack. yes, yes, i actually nicknamed myself after a playboy model, and not even a hot one. to make it worse, she actually married the shrivelled up hugh hefner. brackets added for extra effect. i'm an idiot.
i actually only use this nickname in gaming, everywhere else i use razzzor, which came from the wrestler razor ramon / scott hall.
is the name of my user.
nakasuhito is just meaningless gibberish :)
and i finally registered the name too!
dunno why i post here. i love quake maps and seeing screenshots of the ones you guys are working on, but for some reason i can never finish one myself.
maybe i should post screenshots of the heretic/doom ones i do have finished and sometimes work on.
Efdat Derives From...
#1 the greedy fat dude (like i was back then)
#2 greedy f_dude (to fit the quake hud)
#3 ef - dat (as pronounced by r.m. with an horrible german accent)
that's how the story goes =)
I First Used
this nick originally in Ultima V. It doesn't really come from anywhere. My friend played a while and climbed down some holes in a dungeon and saved the game - only one save slot in ultima V and the game was lost. Had to do a new character, zambuz, but he sucked. So I made a new bambuz. Been stuck with it since. (And I still haven't finished Ultima V, great game though, I just lost my notes back then and it's impossible to advance without them.)
From a cartoon figure of a game magazine. Means a bat in Estonian. Actually just Nahkhiir, I don't know why I put the extra a in the middle (later I found out that nahkahiir means a whore in Estonian but I decided to keep my nick because I had used it for years already).
Sean Campbell is my real name, Scamp was a natural shortening, adding the '-ie' for effect.
The shrimp connection never crossed my 13 year old mind.
Back in the DooM days I was known as Creed on DWANGO. I was big into comic books and used Sabretooth's 'real' name. I stuck with Creed through Quake etc until the lame band came around then switched to AEnoch or noch. I've stuck with it ever since.
this is a cool thread, dunno why I haven't read it before.
When I was a kid I played Catacombs Abyss. I was also a bit OCD, with categorization, logic, making sure all the floor tiles lined up, etc (kind of like Spirit now - JK your archiver/categorizer impulse is one of THE top contributions to Q1 and modding in general in two decades). Anyway, I started imagining my own fantasy world early on, and I wanted there to be five "sizes" of humanoid being: gnomes (tiny), dwarves (a bit bigger), humans (normal sized), ogres (like 7 ft tall) and GIANTS (like 10 feet tall). On the opposing side: a civilization (yes, I know this is contradictory) of "monsters": Goblins, Orcs, Tronyns, Trolls, and Titans. They were five races just like the human five races, and with the same scale, except they were on the other side of the Human-Tronyn war. Btw Goblin wasn't the real name of the smallest type of Green Race (since the non-human races were all green or grey, as inspired by the Orcs and Trolls in catacombs), but I forgot the name I did give them - and shit, as one sad-ass packrat of the mind I wish I still knew it.
So basically, I am a 10 year old's vision of a green non-human in a fantasy world who lives in a dungeon and is bound to fight against "human aggression." lol not much has changed!
i totally ripped off that guy who made music for unreal.
Name I used playing ut2k3 on my university LAN. Is supposed to be OverZealousQuakeFan but that's too long for various games and websites :p
My Initials With An Underscore At The End.
I'm another one of those boring "it's just my initials" people. I think I've been using it since I was 5 or 6, when I noticed that you could stack the "M" on top of the "H" (or draw a horizontal bar between the legs of the "M") and I thought it looked awesome.
These days I just use lowercase because I was too lazy to hold down the shift key once and the habit stuck.
i dont remember why or where or how i got it. and i only use it here, so its even stranger when i think about it. usually i use benoski or benoskanov.
i always post here when i'm sleepy too, so maybe that had something to do with it, and that might explain why my posts are so shit.
holy shit, i even posted on a few posts above! man, i must have alzheimer's or some shit. :D
Kinn is German for chin. I have a chin. I don't have a German, although I'd probably like one. Not sure I could eat a whole one though.
In fact this is the only place I still use that nick, everywhere else I call myself either Slooch/Sloochy/Sloochie/Sloochieslooch, or Mister Gibbycrumbles, which are both far more interesting names with rich and eventful backstories that will be told, retold, and possibly untold, around the flaming hearth for generations to come.
the func_ ate the remainder of my list of Sloochy variations, but it was probably for the best, and anyway you get the idea (that last one was Sloochieslooch).
I Was Always Wondering
that dremora_kynmarcher named after Kinn's Marcher
I Use My Real Name :)
I once got home after anight in the town and a heavy munch session at various fastfood suppliers i logged in at my local quakeserver (probably even the shareware server since i didnt kno instantly you could just add "registered 1" to unlock the full game :P)
and i named myself De_Verorberaar wich means the_devourer. I used that pretty long but the guys at the local ctf server where just to lazy to type more then 4 chars so it got abreviated to orbs.
My other nick Optimus Joop: My friends call ourselves jopies (and sometimes other people if they qualify), a jopie is someone who likes to smoke drink party (actualy none of those ingedients are required but i geuss its a fair description like this)
and i jsut added optimus (most other got a jopie nickname alike) and i forgot if that came from optimus prime or its just my classsical education and the little Latin that stuck
It Was 1996...
And I was playing multiplayer Queck and I wanted another nickname than "player" and this was the first that came to mind.
I still use it to this day. :3
Play on my name...nothing special.
Oh Cool, Never Seen This Thread!
I play trombone.
bite is an alliteration to make it sound catchy.
I use brassbite only for this forum.
Interesting! I didn't know you played trombone.
Do you usually play jazz or classical? (or perhaps something else like ska or reggae?)
My used name is HexenMapper because I did a bunch of mapping for Hexen. I made a 15 map Hexen mod called "a Morte". It got mixed reviews...
He plays the rusty trombone.
I liked the phrase "one true blue" and decided to put a spin on it.
20 years ago I got my first real taste of multiplayer gaming in Quake. I was going under the name "Dr Death PhD", but was devastated to find someone else with exactly the same name on the same server! So I switched to a name that embodied the attributes I hoped to display as a quake player. I'm not sure I ever managed to live up to the name, except when playing against my girlfriend.
ds are my initials, I added them because dumptruck is used already on Xbox Live, PSN and message boards.
I don't tell people the thru origin of "dumptruck" - it's not that exciting but not something I like to share.
My previous nick was "whitejazz" but haven't used that since 1998.
Interesting Resurrected Thread... I'll Play
My previous nicks were enliten (or n-li-10) and reiki.
Both of which I found really wanky.
So I decided to think of what I like, turns out I like space and quake. So I combined Astronaut and Shambler.
It works a little better in an Aussie accent because the "o" in astronaut becomes more like an "a" (astra-naut). Similar to the way the Aussie accent messes with the "er" in shambler making it an "uh" sound, (sham-bluh).
In my accent it sounds like sham-blah-naut.
Quake master. Because I thought I was one when I was 13. Guess I am one now.
Lo Frag Traff
...was a name for a character in an iain m. banks science fiction book called 'excession'.
i latched onto the 'frag' thang for obvious quake reasons.
apart from that, what else could it be twisted to mean?
low fragmentary traffic?
I think I was subconsciously inspired by Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the character Frank Pritchard (who is a total prick), or more accurately a trailer for that game as I picked up the name a little while before the game came out.
It's a reasonably unique name and certainly better than any of the ones I had before it, even if it is "supposed" to be a family name rather than a given one.
I used to play CTF on pub servers as R00k1e then I got better, and dropped the 1E.
Though I had used names like deepfriednewbie, def1ance,and madcow, yet I think my 1st quake name was UnknownQsoldier after the comic UknownSoldier.
Mines Obvious, Metallica Song Title
Blood will follow blood...
Dying time is here...
Q3A nick I used "back in the day".
According To William S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch,
a mugwump is a strange and drug-addled creature which dwells in the bars of the Interzone. I am a strange creature and I only do pot, but I like it a lot!
Over 20 years ago, amalgamation of Killer and Kills. Also lets have a bout of the "killies" aka frag the shit out of some people.
A constructed (industrial) message embedded in the natural cry of an organic being...ooh that distrans is so 1980s: http://www.australiangothicindustrialmusic.com/bands/soulscraper-band-music-songs-videos.html
inDuSTRial TRANSmission? DSTRANS...distrans?
Ooh, A Dune Reference!
I missed that... Should have known but it's been a while since I've read the book.
