The Love Thing
Yeah, I didn't quite understand that either. It was a bit disconnected from the rest of the film. Is love the fifth dimension? Or is love an artifact of an as of yet unknown force in the force or fifth dimension? In a film that's as firmly rooted in actual physics as this one, love stands out as an unexplained phenomenon. I'm not sure I like it, but it didn't bother me too much, either.
Also, I don't usually like Anne Hathaway for reasons having to do with her face, but her acting was good in this movie.
That Speech.

Was one of the few things that knocked it down to 95% for me.
Birdman

Last half hour dragged a bit, but this was easily my favourite film this year. Sort of like a cross between Black Swan, Adaptation, and Fight Club. The cast was excellent, but the writing was better, and the cinematography perhaps even better than that. Soundtrack very original. Even from the trailer it seemed like Edward Norton's character would be hilarious, but you really have no idea until you see the film. Interstellar is definitely a more important movie, and it touches on things we should all think of more. But Birdman, in its own way, was kind of profound, and entertaining as fuck. 5/5.
'obbit 3.

Too long just like the rest. Quite good tho. The trolls were by far the best bit.
Black Mirror.
What the fuck is with you Brits and depressing TV? This makes Utopia look like fucking Blackadder.
Only made it through season 1 and I dread watching the remaining four.
Heh

I love Black Mirror, and you have to admit it's referring to real issues with technology; and also, the first episode is hilaaaaaaarious!

where did you get 4 from?
s1 also has two of the best episodes IMHO, the 2nd and 3rd one. S2's first 2 episodes are quite good but the 3rd is very average.
Black Mirror...

There are indeed only two seasons, of three episodes each. Pretty sure the Christmas special isn't going to count as a season...
'Fifteen Million Merits' (season one, episode 2) was one of my favorite things seen in 2014, in any visual medium. Such a wonderful skewering of the most distasteful trends in entertainment.
4 Episodes
Fargo (1996)
Watching the film second and the show first was a bad idea, since it's probably a really good movie, but I just can't muster up any appreciation for it.

CLASSIC Black Mirror, just as good as anything else they've done so far, though some ideas in it were retreads; overall, the same mix of paranoid, uncomfortable, horrifying, and hilarious that this show has made so distinct.
Is That The One With Don Draper In It?

A high quality entry into the Black Mirror series. Not disappointing at all, among the best the best episodes.
It's My Favorite One.
Felt like I was watching a classic Nolan film.
Hangover 3
I just rewatched The Hangover. Haha - f* awesome movie :)
Hangover 2 was not a bad sequel, but the reviews put me off seeing Hangover 3. Anyone seen it ?

Hangover 2 just Hangover 1?
(notice I didn't put a 'but with' in there)
Why would you need to see 3.
Just watch Between Two Ferns.

Fargo Is Fantastic.

One of the best things to air in 2014. You are in store for some great stuff.
If Breaking Bad was an anthology show, wherein the 62 episodes of Walt's story were season 1, Fargo could very easily be season 2 of that show.

Just watched Fargo, the movie, and I wish I had not broken my "never watch any Coen again". It could be a fantastic movie with just 5 minutes of Yeah, Jeez, Oh Yeah absurdity cut. Yes, of course it is for the setting and blah but seriously? I wonder if there are fan cuts of uncoenified movies out there somewhere.
Lol

So I'm not the only one that finds the Coen's totally hit and miss? They tend to try to make things all awkward and uncomfortable, so that when I'm watching sometimes I think "I know what you're doing as a filmmaker, and I just want you to know: fuck you." But then they make like, No Country For Old Men. Fargo THE SERIES was great by the way (yep I binge watched it) - so great that it is apparently considered a rival to True Detective (that might be going a bit far).
I'm curious as to what provoked such a ban. I mean, they have made some movies everyone admits are classics. I only have a ban on a few directors such as Tarantino (ducks).
