Inspiration & Reference
I just wanted to know if people had any links to good websites for either level design inspiration (photos, paintings, concept art, etc.) or just for architectural reference. We had a thread like this on the old qmap, but we know how much good that does us.

Reality Check
i always liked to hold a waterlevel against the shore, just to check:)

Dunno who made this drunk statement, was it me?

So here are some photos from the current ESA Rosetta Mission.

Those pictures might look like ESA hasnt got the funding to finance a good (color)camera.
Flight started 10 y ago, so they have state of the art, 10 y old..
Which means these pictures arent actually b/w, but taken in infrared. Guess why?

Right! Space is even darker than Shamblers ass, so ordinary "photo shooting" wont work...

So, here we have real out of world geometry, just look at the pictures..
Mind the resolution though, this thing is huge.. (5km?)

Here is a animation of the probe slowly approaching these rocks:Slow approach

Next challenge will be the landing of the probe(or parts of it)on this piece of floatrock..

And the monolith there...

Lands
Cocerello
Haha, when I saw "Lands" I directly thought about those Lands too =) many MTG cards are such a good inspiration for environments.

Agyrem is an environment I planed on doing for a good while now for Q3. Might be my next project.

Hipshot
Now that you mention it, i have some scraps based on this. The second and fourth swamp card, more precisely.

I think that Ravnica is the more Quakeable of the realms in MTG, with realms like Mirrodin being the least. Also things like the fouth island in the picture is nearly impossible for Quake.

In fact, i bought some thousands of cards for a dozen euros several years ago when i was still in that world, just for inspiration, and to look at the pictures for personal pleasure ;)

Yeah
