Rather amazing there is no Tronyn died talk anywhere here.
I feel privileged that I got to interact with one of my mapping heroes many times here at func_msgboard.
A Desert Dusk was one of my early single player delights, the release of ARWOP was one that bound in fascination and as a student of history Tronyn's work on many single player releases like OUM are an important part of Quake history.
Thank you for your contributions Tronyn! I feel blessed to have to gotten to know you (and so many engine tweaks needed for your works! May you eternally rest in bliss!).

There's A Thread About It

"If we're doing a DarkPlaces fork, can we call it "BrownPlaces"?"
You and Spike, my friends to the end
.. remember I wanted to quit engine coding you pushed me hard and harder and even harder to grow ..
Well.
Here I am today .. living awakened by your efforts. Both of you changed my life.

Never once was I thinking of competing against a Quake engine, to be quite honest.
My kids when they look at something like "Quake Remastered" roll their eyes -- my kids raised in an age of Minecraft and Skyrim.
Fortunately, today I can make things they don't roll their eyes at and actually speak positively of -- such is the way of meritocracy which is how the world works and how I want to work as well.

I believe in open source and I believe in humanity (it's a tough one, I know) and I am going to see this through.
The bottom line is I am going to see this through.
For the average weenie-dude: your are reading the post of an alpha male.
