oh well. If you ever get a wild hair I recommend you give it a second chance. Here are few shots from my current install: 1, 2, 3

This is without a "graphic overhaul" mod as they tend to look like dog ass. Aside from removing fog and fixing fov/resolution, the only mods are bug and balance fixes.

A few of the games you guys chose are not really first person shooters though. I wouldn't put Dishonored, Thief, Arx Fatalis or the Elder Scroll games in that category.

		 Dishonoured Is Shooty Enough.

The rest are definitely OUT. Including Battlezone2 which along with Skyrim would have been in my top ten.

Take it more seriously you disgusting plebs.

I vote Shadow of the Colossus on PS2. The camera's so janky, half the time it is unintentionally first person lol. (Still one of the best games ever made, despite that).

Unless you don't want HL2 to count because of all the crowbar sections, extensive gravity gun sections and loads of puzzles. Heck 20-30% of the Half-Life 2 doesn't involve shooting. More if you love the gravity gun (okay might be reasonably construed).

Heh, title said 50 so I gave you 50...

@Thief out: sure the focus is on stealth but since you can shoot all the enemies I think it still qualifies.

Hmm, actually kind of difficult to decide so this may be out of order/change depending on mood:

  1. Serious Sam TSE (I love TFE almost as much but TSE provides more variety).
  2. Left 4 Dead 2
  3. Quake
  4. Unreal Tournament
  5. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
  6. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: SoC
  7. DOOM 2
  8. Might and Magic: Dark Messiah
  9. F.E.A.R.
  10. Bioshock

When I actually think about it, I don't play all that many shooters. The top five are much more set in stone than the bottom half.

aye, it's probably safe to say that the majority of people who've spent a reasonable amount of time with doom hold this opinion.

Level design is a broad term. I'd say each one of the two games nailed a different aspect of it.
