Also, in case no one saw on planetdoom, some d00dz are making a Hexen tc for Doom3. Can't reach the page, but hopefully it'll be damn cool. 

Holy Christ on a stick, this thing is 251 minutes long. That is 4 hours and 11 minutes. This is going to be the longest movie I've ever watched so far. I will probably post some impressions in the movie thread tomorrow or the day after that.

whose limericks were often quite swell

then - would - try - to - fit - as - many - syllables - as - he - possibly - could - into - the - last - line - and - bork - the - board - code - but - still - make - sure - it - rhymed - as - well 

catch that 'Peyote' does not rhyme with scrote or note.

Sorry, I forgot that shitty .avi rips being viewed on a monitor screen are the ideal medium in which to watch one's favourite films. 

AVI is not a codec, it's a file format containing data. The data within can be encoded with a bad codec at a bad bitrate and a good codec at a good bitrate. I'd say that a 3 CD DVDrip encoded with XViD with AC3 5 channel audio is pretty appropriate for a LoTR movie.

I have to live with watching movies on a monitor as I don't have a good TV, but may I remind you that you can hook your computer to a projector and watch the movies off your ROOM WALL. Me and my friends had access to one such projector when we were in high school and let me tell you, it beats watching movies from a monitor, tv AND movie theater screen. 

a dvd on a good tv/projector will kick the shit out of any rip job, a 3 cd rip is a lot of quality loss. It might not be noticable on small screens but it is very obvious and distracting on big ones.

And the only way to see movies like LOTR is on a good screen with a good sound system.

Yeah, but it's the whole "compressing ROTK:EE onto 3 CDs is an appropriate way to experience the film" bit that kind of nullifies his argument for me ;)
