Talk about anything in here. If you've got something newsworthy, please submit it as news. If it seems borderline, submit it anyway and a mod will either approve it or move the post back to this thread.

Well, all of a sudden Biff pops out of the TV, this short, fat, bald little goth guy wearing a red Superman-cape with only some hair on the side of his head.

Has actually indicated he looks a little like Drew Carey -- at least according to personal sketches. I can see it.

i recall someone mentioned there's a setting to reduce the mutant owl neck effect when getting hit in d3... but i can't remember what it is... can some one tell me please?
understandably, searching for "reduce mutant own neck in doom 3" didn't yeild many results. :P

Naturally. That's because you misspelled "owl."

g_kickTime - set it to 0. It applies to both monster attacks and weapon recoil, so you'll be universally cancelling out both.
 Cool
#7102 posted by necros on 2005/02/10 19:53:44
although, g_kickamplitude 0 seems to work as well. although, i'm guessing kicktime just means you'll recover from the viewkick faster.
the default for kickamplitude is 0.0001 (O_o) so i set it to 0.00005 for a very minor punch in the jaw.
i'll try out kicktime though, as a nice balance might be able to be had with a bit more amplitude but faster recovery.
geez, i can't believe i'm tweaking screenhits. :P
btw, i never noticed any recoil on the weapons... am i the only one?

 Weapon Recoil
#7104 posted by Lunaran on 2005/02/11 10:25:43
Yeah, it's there. Fire off the shotgun a few times especially.
The reason kickamplitude is so low is because the kick math appears really sloppy and unpredictable, unless I'm missing something. Changing it was really finicky.
There's actually a hard-coded cap on kick distance at seventy degrees, too.

it has to do with the server not being able to handle large requests for data or whatever.
anyway, it's not that important. just know it's not your computer. :P

A Free Game demo, GTR, that includes a copy protection system. Seems a little odd having copy protection with a free demo, but anyway there must be reasons
same link as in the 'Other Games' thread, so if you read that no need to go here

 Sneak Peek
#7111 posted by VoreLord on 2005/02/11 16:44:11
Kiltron has released a 'Sneak peek' video of his 'Bones: Legacy Of The Vadrigar' mod for Quake 3. It ways in at around 75mb, and runs for around 15 minutes, and is mainly showing you some of the environments. Unfortunately you don't get to see any enemies and therefore no attacks etc. If you don't want to sit through a tour of the menu items, you would be advised to fast forward to about 3 minutes in, and if the end credits equally don't do it for you, you would also be advised to skip the last 3 minutes from around the 12 minute mark. The video quality isn't high as a quote from the readme explains.
Note: This isn't high quality in game video, it was filmed with a video camera
intentionally.
A snip from the read me.
This is a sneak peek at a Quake 3 mod I've had in production for a number of years.
This is to show off the dark eerie environments. Though not present in this video,
there are tons of monsters to fight, ala Quake style! I'll show those next video.
So have at it if 75mb doesn't deter you. It's not mind blowing or anything, but if your interested in Quake III stuff and have the bandwidth to burn...
