Tarantino Is Pretentious
Agree, don't like his movies at all.
That Might Be Going A Bit Far?
I enjoyed True Detective a lot but Fargo was the better series by far.
Fargo > True Detective

I did really like True Detective, but it never lived up to the promise of the first five episodes. The Yellow King, Carcosa, the involvement of key players in Southern politcal power structures...all the hints of something huge didn't add up to much in the end. The focus narrowed just when I thought it was ripe for expansion.
Fargo was far more consistent from start to finish.
And By The Way....

Does anyone here watch Banshee? This current season (3) has been all-time great. It revels in pure insanity and kickassery, yet the artistry of its direction and editing is almost peerless among television. I'm endlessly fascinated by the non-linear fashion in which most of its more emotional scenes are cut.
Anyway, it's great. Highly recommended..
Banshee
First season had some of the most intense TV moments in recent years for me and it has been quite good. Second season was a bit hit and miss, and the third season is better again.
Agreed

I thought the second season started out really strong, with some great moments (the highway heist, the one-shot hallway fight, Anastasia and Siobhan's intercut fights), but ran out of steam as the season progressed.
Three has been pure gold. Great moment after great moment. I admire how they come up with great ideas, and casually toss them away at a moment's notice. There's no padding here, just a constant, sprint-like pace.
Interstellar

Wow. Just wow. Left me jaw-agape and speachless. Really enjoyed it, a lot like 2001: A Space Odyssey, the visuals seemed on-point throughout. Two things I took away from that film:
1 - Matt Damon is a c@nt.
2 - Interstellar space travel is generally a 'bad head'.
I would definitely give the film atleast an 8.5 out of 10. It goes on for a long time. It didn't remind me of TDK movies. Except for the fact that it had Catwoman and Alfred in it.

Calling something pretentious is pretentious. But yeah Tarantino is pretentious, I've always disliked him.
Recent stuff I've watched - Continuum I really enjoyed, a scifi thriller. Rachel Nicols might be the hottest tv female lead ever! Been watching 12 Monkeys and only 2 eps in but have enjoyed it so far.
I've been watching a lot of the comic stuff - Agents of Shield, Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, and finding them a bit of a slog. Arrow has some adult script writing so is the best of the bunch, but damn Gotham is hard work getting through. A 70's gangster/crime drama with not a single likeable character?! How'd they screw up the Batman universe this much?
BSG

Oh here's one to cause a stir, I love my scifi and everyone wanks on about Battlestar Galactica so I started watching that. Probably almost 1 season in (the captain just woke up), but I don't get all the fuss. It's boring, so far a bunch of political shit, and all the characters are really irritating. I just want to punch Starbuck in the face, so I don't have to put up with her overly cocky expressions any more.
The only bit of interest is the interaction between the doctor and blonde cylon is quite good. But I don't think they intended for the main cylon character to be the one you rooted for.
It's certainly no Stargate/StarTrek/Firefly.
Ermahgerd!
Heh

BSG has many faults, but come on, worse than Firefly? Whoa.
I Come To The Conclusion That
you guys are trolling.
Better Call Saul.
Very good so far. Shaping up to be far more than just a Breaking Bad spinoff.

Yeah, it's been great so far.
BSG.

I am a dribbling idiot over Starbuck, I love her demented expressions. The rest of it....was there a rest of it?? It was quite okay but dragged on and I never finished it.
Oh Come On

easily on of the best tv characters.

BSG has some pretty laggy bits. S2 has a lot of garbage episodes that don't relate to the running plots in any way because the network pressured them to make the show easier for people who'd not started watching with S1 to get into it. evidently the network thought creating characters and relationships and immediately throwing them away was somehow less confusing than a 45 second "previously:" montage.
Yeah It Has Flaws

especially in s3 and s4 but its still excellent.

They're up to season 4? Gulp. I'll keep watching though, at least it's sci-fi and good sci-fi is hard to find. Usually it takes a season to get into it. I just hope it gets away from internal politics and relationships and more to either exploration ala Voyager or focus on taking the fight to the Cylons.
Bal; yeah I'm not huge Firefly fan either actually, but it did have some likeable characters. Buffy is Whedon's best work, imo, due to the characters.
