Film Thread.
I thought a trio of themed threads about other entertainment media might be good. If you're not interested, please just ignore the thread and pick some threads that interest you from here: http://celephais.net/board/view_all_threads.php

Anyway, discuss films...

Better Call Saul
Fantastic. Far stronger first season than Breaking Bad's was. Jimmy's character arc is pure finesse from start to "end".

"Far stronger first season than Breaking Bad's was."

Yes, this. Breaking Bad started out weak where Saul is starting out strong. I have high hopes...

Batman v Superman trailer - I like that this is looking dark, much darker than Nolans trilogy. I'm very glad it's following Man of Steel and keeping Henry Cavill in that role, I would hope for many movies to come. Don't need to keep Zack Snyder directing though.

TWD season 5b... while 5a was great, I thought the last half season sucked big time. Are they intentionally turning all the main characters we've been following for 5 seasons into ASSHOLES, or is it just poor writing?

Oh and i recently finished watching Agent Carter:
Don't know why this rated so highly, probably the most boring modern comic tv series yet. Nothing happened throughout 8 episodes.

and Alphas: I quite like the way it turned out, not the cliffhanger ending but just the last several episodes with a leading character dying, Rosen and Cameron going a bit rogue and getting quite dark, Parish becoming a pretty good villain. Shame it got cancelled after 2 seasons as it's better than most Syfy series'.

What's everyones fav tv shows at the moment? For what I'm watching currently I'd have to say Buffy, which I never watched when it was first on. I always thought it looked too budget, made for horny teenage boys with an overrated main character who isn't even that pretty (that nose?!). But actually, after watching 6 seasons it is a very well written series and while just about every female that's featured in more than 2 episodes on the series is prettier than Buffy (except Tara), her character is the coolest.
Game Of Thrones, Without Question
'nuff said.
Long Haul
Watched all three hunger games movies on the plane. Kinda fun, kinda dumb. Would like to see a version not targeted at teenage girls I guess :) First took the setting at face value a bit much and was predictable, second was by far the best, third was mostly a boring war movie.

Also watched/slept through LOTR, first time I'd watched in a whlie. They've aged a bit, but I still think they're pretty good really.

Jesus, how long was that flight? :P

Hail the Pent!
Hail Discordia!

NZ -> Europe and back again so something like 12, 11, 12, 10 hours :-) All the hunger games movies where on one flight though...

Did you come to chch mwh?

God all 3 hunger games movies in a row that would have been painful. I got pissed off after the first one when I realised it's just another inferior Battle Royale clone, and then pissed off after the sequel where they just remixed the first movie. It was basically the same movie as the first instead of moving ahead with the uprising plot, they just chuck them in the dome again. A very overrated franchise, not much better than Twilight which can at least progress it's plot.

So, you ... uh ... you watched Twilight, huh?
Lol!
A new episode of Penny Dreadful came out; this show is so cheesy (guilty pleasure) but Eva Green is so awesome, as is the main explorer guy.

I thought the finale of Better Call Saul was really weak.

Kona, no chch this time, I was supposed to but had to rearrange and ended up going via AKL like normal.

The actual hunger games bits are pretty boring in both movies (oo the tension, is katniss going to die? err no), but the stuff outside the games is way less dumb in the second movie.

Looking forward to Penny Dreadful s2. I can't get rid of the image of everyone on set having a nice cup of tea after recording some of the exorcism scenes...

haha yep warren, the gf made me sit through it all. the second to last one was possibly the biggest piece of shit that's ever been made into a movie. it was just a reality tv show that follows the 2 most boring people on the planet on their honeymoon in which they seem to barely know one another and have zero chemistry.

however, the finale and big fight at the end of the series was actually really, really good. I liked the twist, it was quite different.
On Their Honeymoon In Which They Seem To Barely Know One Another And H
That's pretty much the point of the story, Kona.
And it's not a finale, it's a cliffhanger for the last film.

"(oo the tension, is katniss going to die? err no),"

To be fair, that's every action movie ever. Is Bruce Willis going to die in Die Hard? Let me check my magic 8-ball ...

Even so, it doesn't make for very good viewing. Are you a Twilight fan czg?

When I'm referring to the big finale battle I'm talking about the last film, not the honeymoon one, there was no big battle in that, at least that I can recall. I tried my best to delete the entire experience from my memory bank.
Yes, Its A Problem In All Action Movies
That some deal with better than others!

(Although I can't fail to mention Samuel l Jackson getting suddenly eaten in "deep blue sea", an otherwise pretty unmemorable movie...)
Right After Making A Speech Too
lol that movie was awesome

although the real footage of shark attacks in BBC's Planet Earth is more terrifying than any shark movie.
Never Read Or Watched A Twilight

But...
Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
I Think I Saw The Twilight Fight You Refer To In A Hotel Lobby
While I was waiting for other things to happen.

No blood.
Gayer than usual vampires.
Oh no it was all just a dream (prediction of the future) and nobody really died lets all go home instead.
Also
Has everyone already seen the Netflix Daredevil? (yeah if I took the time to scroll up there's probably 30 posts on it)

Very good, now I understand the point behind the character and the memory of the film fades.
So You're Saying Daredevil Is Good
???

I'm kind of exhausted by superhero stuff these days though a tv show format might revitalize that for me...

I wonder how many people were saying the exact same thing back when Smallville was new.
