After many long minutes waiting about data from your web site... aaaaaahhhh.... it finally appears... and I feel a little disappointed having waiting for a so long time for a so crappy message....

Is the server down or something else ???
JPLambert
oh, that's dissapointing. Yes, I just tried it and I can't reach any spawnpoint sites atm, so the server seems to be having problems atm.
OK
I will look forward... and give you feedback ;)
Appears To Be Working Now :)

Kinn
Yes, it works fine !! Weel, It's a pretty cool start page compared to mine 8P..... So, just an advice, IMHO the green use for link should be replaced by a another brown shade... to follow the web site title ;).. That's the same for purple links already visited... Otherwize, it's rather nice... I like this global "building top-level view"..
Just a question: what tool do you use to build your web page ??
JPLambert
Thanks for the crits. I kind of like the colourful mouseover and visited links, but I guess that's because there's only so much brown one can take ;)

Btw, I used Photoshop 7 to make the graphics and Dreamweaver 3 for the html shenanigans.
Kinn
Thanks... A friend of mine give me DreamWeaver (I don't know the version) and I installed it on my PC: sure I will refined my web site using this tool, as far everybody told me the tool is really easy to use... for "dummy" like me... ;)
They Way We W(out)ere
Speedy linked this gem from way back in 2001 when Grindspire was a mod (somehow) and headshot occasionally crawled out from his mappers den.

http://speedmap.narod.ru/jump.html

After reading it and having a good laugh, I think we have actually mellowed quite a bit since then. func_msg is a quality place to have a discussion for a few reasons I think.

First, only two moderators, and very good ones at that. (Yep, I mean it scampie)

Second, fewer regular posters. We're all used to each other by now with now wildcards thrown in the mix to start a giant flame war.

Finally, contests and group projects always end up with people upset at one another. At the moment, there is no speedmap, no chainmap, and no gimmicky contest. Just people (slowly) churning out some good maps.

I was kind of sad reading that too, because I think alot of people who posted regularly were driven away by that kind of flame war. I know Killaz and XeN never post here anymore. Aard rarely does, and Lunaran has only come back recently.

So here's to learning from the past, and being an even greater group than we already are, in the future.

Hmm
Oh right, didn't see post #5339
Hmm
Kinn, I'm inclined to agree with JPLambert that the mouseovers should be a different shade of brown rather than a bright colour.

Also, how about varying the shade of each of the different buttons (although still brown obviously), atm it's more 3 shades of brown rather than 256
Kinn
I like it. Keep the green, you want to keep a bit of contrast.

I never got to read Blitz's page. :(

Question
Anyone tried the warhammer: dawn of war beta that was released today? I've heard a ton of good things about the beta-test, so I'm getting it now to see if its any good. Just wondering, as I seem to remember there being one or two warhammer geeks in the mix here.
Ray
Yeah I really wanted to dl the demo but its 319mb or somesuch size, sucks when Im on 56k...

Please tell us how it is when you've had a play, it looks awesome :)
Hmm
I played it when it was first released on FilePlanet.

It's OK, but somewhat simplistic in terms of gameplay/tactics/troop control. Pretty much 'just another rts', except without having to ship resources back to your base (and with GC-esque control points).

However, the artwork in general, and the animations especially, are amazing. It does actually feel like you're watching a real battle.
Hmm
Oh, and it has a custom colours option which is a nice nod to its origins
