Some of what I've seen lately:
Started watching The Amazing Spiderman last night. What is this shit? I love everything superhero, but this just feels like a teen drama. And for the love of god can we not do a superhero movie that isn't another retelling of their origin story. The main actor was a complete tool (since when was Peter Parker an arrogant, cocky little shit?) and Emma Stone with her hooker outfits just didn't seem right. Perhaps the dark knight movies have me expecting too much from superhero movies lately. I never really liked Tobey Maguire or Kirsten Dunst either, but they so far did a better job in Sam Raimi's Spiderman.
7.2 on imdb is too high. Although... I haven't seen it all yet.
Afro Samarai. Okay, good animation. Lead character is too unlikable, I actually found myself rooting for the bad guys, especially in the movie. Samuel L Jackson was the Jar Jar Binks of the series.
Devil May Cry anime. Great! I wish they made more. Animation was fantastic, Dante looked great and the voice acting was perfect. Unfortunately there were too many stories contained to one episode, instead of a main story arc which didn't really develop until near the end of the series, but when it did, it was great. Last 2 episodes I loved.
The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series
Great as well. Certainly the animation can't be compared to what comes out of asia, that's just no comparison, but the story was great. The way each episode would kick off a different story for each of the main avengers, which would return to that story later in the season, all to be tied together at the end. S1 was all about Loki. S2 about the Kree invasion. Then Galactus topped off an awesome series finale. Great, I just wish the animation was a little better.
The two Avengers animated movies are another story though... complete rubbish, childish script, terrible animation (budget korean warehouse crap). Not worth watching.

but all stills of Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy look exactly like the comics.

more like the NOT amazing spiderman, ha! Yeah it's pretty average. Pretty much the same direction as the tobey maguire films, and not as good. Actually it's better than spiderman 3, but so is putting your balls in a hot waffle iron and closing the lid.

Not as bad as I expected. Actually enjoyed it. Best Arnie film since True Lies. Which says nothing.
Am I The Only That Liked Spiderman 3?

It was nowhere near as good as 2 but I thought it was on par or slightly better than 1.

Definitely better than 1. I think the raimi ness of it all especially re jazzy venom got t people.
 Nah

Just too much going on. Sandman shouldn't have been it it at all.
The whole spiderman series of films has been sadly naff though. It'd be great to see a darker look at it, like the latest batman films did.
 I Enjoyed Spiderman 2

as much as any of the Nolan Batmans.

I wouldn't go as far as you Nitin - it doesn't reach that level IMO - but I think #2 is great. Also I don't want every superhero movie to be 'dark' - the campiness of the film is a part of its enjoyment for me, though its a fine balance (venom jazz).

Hodejegerne ("Headhunters") (2011)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1614989
Very nice thrilling thriller. Some really violent bits but they did kinda feel in place, some gore that was disgusting but was the same. Highly recommended! If you like a dark thriller, do not even read the imdb snippet but watch this. Has some completely ridiculous technological things though.

Oh and I would recommend watching the original with subs, at least the German dub had one very bad voice actor.
 Yeah Really Wanna See That.

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Fibncher remake) - decent film, probably on the same level of quality as the swedish original but with its own strengths and weaknesses. Better pacing, better visuals, amazig score. On the downside, the swedish version had a better relationship between Mikael and Lisbeth and a better version of the crucial photo scene. Both versions suffer from some shoddy plotting though but that comes from the source.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - brilliant. Everything, the acting, the music, the look, the scripting is utterly brilliant. yes its slow, yes there are no female characters, yes its complicated, but this is a real film from a real filmmaker.
Pale Flower - Lots has been written about the French New Wave from the 60's . But the Japanese new wave from the same time produced equally as imrpessive films. This part yakuza/part noir/part political allegory is one of the best, the look and score are to die for and the long, detailed gamblign den sequences are hypnotic to watch.
Letter Never Sent - Russian movie from 1960 about 4 explorers tryign to find diamonds in the Taiga and running into and trying to escape from a massive firestorm. I have no idea how this was filmed because the long, elaborate, tracking shots look like they, and the actors, go through very real fires. The visuals make it worth watching but on the whole, its a little lightweight to be anything more than decent.

Brazil (Criterion edition which is the DC I believe)
Ugh, surreal symbolism. It started really great but lost me fairly quickly. The two main characters were unconvincing to me. Nice setting and stuff everywhere and pipes though. Can't say I would ever recommend it or watch it again.
