Future PC Games / State Of Gaming HYPE Thread.
The game list might have moved on a long way from the original one, and as with any such list, not all of it worked out, but the principle remains: This is a thread purely for hype and positivity about PC Gaming and forthcoming games that get you particularly excited. If you're playing it already or it's just a general comment, post it in the Other PC Games Thread. If it's big enough for the func_audience (usually Quake / Doom / Unreal / HL series etc), start a specific thread for it.

New list for 2018 onwards:

Updated for reasonz:

Still hype maybe:

Cyberpunk 2077 - blatantly Deus Witcher, but top of the hype list?

Iron Harvest - it's crowdfunded, let's hope it succeeds

Metro Exodus - equal top of the hype list maybe

Doom 5 - also equal top. Thank fuck there's some vaguely entertaining FPS in the works

Tentative hype:

Phoenix Point - still waiting

Witchfire - verrrrrrrrry tentative

Mechwarrior 5 - the world always needs more Mechs!

Mutant Year Zero - the new XCom clone hype, more so than PP.

Battletech - it came out, it was great, nuff said.

Call OF Cthulu - FP interactive movie puzzle / talking sim

Anthem - bollox Ass Effect meets Dickstiny meets who gives a fuck.

The next From Software game - turned out to me boring Japan history meh Nioh clone.

Will try to find the video clip links for some of these, seeing a lot of clips recently inspired me to post this...

Alan Wake - bleh. I dont care about tech demos, when its out it will be average

Bioshock - bleh. not my style of play/look

Crysis - bleh. didnt even finish 1st one

ET:QW - bleh. no sp. BF-quake. bleh.

Hellgate London - uhm yeah

HL2:EP2 - helo again

Huxley - what?

Jericho - double what

Project Offset - I give it zero chance

Savage 2 - bleh

Stalker - lol

Supreme Commander - bleh (looks bad)

You Are Empty - need to check

You forgot Timeshift - kick ass nextgen project will be out in 1 year (if Atari doesnt kick the bucket). Im checking this one for sure, hoepfully next week.
Hellgate London
Just watched some later vid of gameplay - it looks tasteless ;(
Of those, the ones I think are going to be the best are HL2 EP2, (mostly because of TF2 and Portal which come with it) and STALKER because I think it has the potential to be really excellent. I think whatever has made them delay it this long says to me that they actually care about it and the fact that THQ continues to pay for it says that they are excited about whatever they're doing.

Alan Wake could be kind of cool if they mix in some adventure game elements or something like that to actually make the story immersive.
the thing with this game is that it's probably not going to be as impressive as it would have... i know they updated the engine to work with dx9 but i just have a bad feeling about it. also, some of the talk about 'emergent behaviour' sounds too outlandish to be true.

don't get me wrong, i would love if this game actually was exactly what they say, i just am preparing myself for the worst. :P

bioshock, on the other hand, i'm not worried about in the least. their track record is proven, and i can't wait to get my hands on this game. ^_^

jade empire is supposed to be being made for PC now, and as someone who never owned a single console, this is nice as i've heard good things about it. it's supposed to be more than a port, which is always a good thing, so we'll see...

and looking forward to hl2 ep2 if only for more nice post-ap maps and the continuation of the story (talk about a cliff hanger in ep1).
Quite Right
some of the talk about 'emergent behaviour' sounds too outlandish to be true.

I was reading this article a moment ago--

and how it describes emergant behavior gave me a funny feeling as well.

I know calling a game scripted is intended as an negative criticism, but I am much happier with well scripted and well paced events in game (like HL2) than I am with games similar to what is described here. Random is not that interesting.

It will likely feel as contrived as Dungeon Hack which randomly generates dungeons but is essentialy the same mind numbingly simple game everytime when you get under the surface of it. But I hope that I am wrong.

Speeds, I thought the bioshock art was quite an eye sore too, and the big daddies and little sisters described in every review have turned into an annoyance even before the game has come out. However, I'm still looking forward to it, like Necros, just because of the people involved in creating it.
Ah yes, good old speedy, I knew I could rely on you for your charmless brand of dismissal and pessimism :).

Needless to see that some of these could be "bleh" indeed, still I would rather wait hopefully and then bleh-ify them if they deserve it. Makes it more fun in the meantime. And disappointment? Not so much really, there's always other games to play.

Anyway, the ones that most excite me: Bioshock, Crysis, and in theory Offset, all for obvious reasons.
Stalker will rock, if it doesn't I will allow you all to take the piss forever! (im sure you would anyway...) I dunno what it is about this game but it just strikes me as being really special, I hope the extra development time really let GSC Gameworld make it tip-top...

I am also really looking forward to Crysis, the e3 movie of the giant tripod walker thing attacking the aircraft carrier just blew me away, also modifying your armour properties on the fly is cool, as are the tactical bullets and destructable trees, even if it turns out to be far cry 1.5 I would be happy with it...

HL2 EP2 looks great from what I have seen, some really immense battles going on, and more of the hl2 story is always welcome in my book. Also as mentioned above TF2 and Portal come with it, I am really looking forward to both of those as well.

Alan Wake, haven't seen any gameplay whatsoever yet but it certainly looks nice, and coming from the makers of max payne 1 & 2 im sure they can pull of a great game with it.

Huxley / Project offset - Wha? I saw some trailer for one of these and it looked ok but tbh I have not really checked them out in any detail...

Supreme Commander - This looks awesome, I need more total annihilation style goodness!
Assasins Creed!
That looks really kick ass (just watched dev video)
GoW and ResistanceFallOfMan for PC plz
(just thinking how much worse it is to play a shooter with gamepad)
jade empire yes plz - Biowre rpg and not cliche fantasy

You guys prolly know that most of the original stalker team has left to form another company (and now being sued haha). Also I cant believe how much u guys trust in all the hype and PR buzzwords (emerging behavior... yeah sure)

DAZ there is another good ghame for you - Dead Or Alive Xtreme 2
(regarding your earlier post) You suck.

SC open beta started recently, and I'm downloading it now. I'm very much looking forward to playing it no matter how uninteresting the graphics look in most screenshots. It's about gameplay, and it sure looks like it will be different to all the popular RTS games, which are basically all the same thing with different settings and rules. SC at least does something different. Total Annihilation shat on all other RTS games when it was released, so my hopes are high.

Bioshock looks awesome. You suck.

Crysis looks awesome, though I'm not convinced by the nanosuit idea. You suck.

Alan Wake has a lot of potential. You suck.

ETQW looks pretty cool and Splash Damage are good at making MP team gameplay work well. It won't be BF Quake, because BF has utterly shit gameplay when you aren't in a vehicle - things are likely to be different with QW.

HL2 Ep2 is probably more of the same, but that's not exactly a bad thing when the original was such a great game. The videos Valve released seem to show a bit more new stuff than we saw in HL2 ep1.

STALKER. Hmmm. Well, even if the game is a bit crap, I want to walk around the environment. Even if it sucks I will probably get it just to check out the atmosphere. Does sound like they missed some cool opportunities though - a recent gamespot preview said vehicles have been removed, and there is also no coop multiplayer, so the only other stalkers are going to be NPCs.

You suck :)

Oh, and Shambler... you missed one... DUKE NUKEM FOREVER!
I thought putting Stalker on was optimistic(read:"deluded") enough.
GG turning games discussion into a personal insult. I had impression you were slightly older than 13
All you fave games suck btw. And movies too.
Not to mention your fave music...
planned for 1st Q 2007... on the other news THQ is having some problems.

Seriously, its been so long I stopped to care (like 3 years ago). If it comes out bad - no big deal. If its any good - I will play it...
I believe it will be ok, but nothing amazing (like I seemed to be in 2003)
Not spoogeworthy
I'll Be Happy
if ID release a Q4 mission pack.

Also, Left 4 Dead looks interesting. COOP ftw. :)
Q4 mission pack was cancelled
Pants. :(
I'm looking forward to quite a few of these yeah, mostly hoping Bioshock will be good, and Hellgate London, I'd like to have a futuristic diablo-like game... not sure if that's how it'll turn out though.

About Supreme Commander, I tried the beta, it was pretty boring, didn't really feel like there was anything innovative at all in the end, except that you can zoom in and out like crazy... Hope the single player campaign is more interesting.
Were Portal And Team Fortress 2 Lumped In There With Hl2ep2?
Cos I'm certainly looking forward to them.
looks like a bit of a one trick pony to me, and a pretty ugly one at that. I'd prefer they somehow managed to work the portal gun in to the HL2 storyline.

I'll probably still buy Ep2 simply for TF2 though.
speeds: I'm 12, you fool! learn to count!

Sorry if you took any of my "you suck comments" as serious insult, I was only messing around. This is TEH INTARNET after all.

I also tried to get the SC beta working recently, but for some reason I seem to be missing a required file and I can't play online. However, if you played TA back in the day, you would probably be able to understand why I am excited about SC. TA was such a big change from C&C and WC (sorry for all the acronyms - I'm lazy) in terms of scale and ambitioun. It had full 3d units, true LOS on terrain, physics on debris and perhaps even enemy shots (don't remember) massive battles, infinite resources, hundreds of units, was very balanced (both sides were nearly the same though) and also had absolutely the fucking best interface ever put in an RTS game. Sure, many RTS games these days allow you to queue orders and set waypoints, but I think it was TA (along with maybe Dark Reign) that introduced these features. TA allowed you to move away from micromanagement a lot more than C&C did, and freed up players to concentrate more on the battlefield.

I just realised that what I've wrote summarises a lot of the selling points of Supreme Commander, but it's amazing that they are still selling points eight years after the original game was released.

Also, despite the apparently marmite-like appeal of Bioshock's art (do you want more fucking elves or what?) I think the game has enormous potential and will live up to at least some of it. If it lives up to even 1/10th of the promise I think it has, it will be a great game. Shame it has had so much hype recently though.

Whilst a Diablo FPS seems infinitely more appealing to me than an actual Diablo game, what I've seen of Hellgate looks pretty boring. The art is ok, but the weapons don't look particularly fun to use in the videos, environments are randomly generated, and I don't really know how much wandering around shooting stuff that isn't part of a pre-designed adventure I can take. Might be fun in coop with friends I guess.
Earthenware? Sandwich Spread?
It appears they are going for a highly self consciense 50's Kitsch.

do you want more fucking elves or what?

I bet you are like me, and every time you see one of those game adverts for the fantasy MMORPGs (it seems like they all do this) that shows a female elf with a menacing glare, dagger in hand and wearing breast plate that ressembles a sports bra exposing plenty of midrift, the first thought that comes to your mind is -- slash! one stroke! She is now two pieces.
This Is The Post Where I Disagree!
Alan Wake - I recall this seeming cool, havent followed it.

Bioshock - In concept it seems cool, enjoyed that cg trailer in terms of atmosphere it is suggesting.

Crysis - Nice to see that team is working on a source port for their own game. Sorry, just not impressed by your engine when it comes to buying a game.

ET:QW - Zombie is cool so this gets a thumbs up anyways, but I do like what Ive seen.

Hellgate London - Looks fun and cool from what Ive seen, variety of guns and splattery enemies. I like that they seem to have taken a step back in tech to allow for better framerates in the gameplay they want.

HL2:EP2 - I guess HL2 itself would have to not be a movie I have to hold W for the duration of to make sure it plays, and thus not get bored for me to play it, then Ep1, and thus Ep2. Blah.

Huxley - No clue

Jericho - I liked Undying alright, so this could be cool. Havent seen any media for it however.

Project Offset - Last time I checked this project was in the same place it was a year since I checked it before that. I hope it does turn out cause... well... medieval is cool.

Savage 2 - No clue.

Stalker - I vaguely recall details of this and being intrigued last time I looked into it, Id give it a go.

Supreme Commander - Nukes treated somewhat properly? Massive armies? Sounds good to me, screenshots look fun. Friends have given it pretty good reviews from the beta.

You Are Empty - Never heard of it, Russian stuff is cool, but no take on it really.

Im gonna go see if I can find a Custom TF game now =)
Let's Hope
stalker won't be the new daikatana...
Read the latest Stalker preview, did sound very good, and did sound like it was very much in existence. Maybe DKT but not DNF if you get my drift.

Crysis - based on Far Cry, I feel how anyone can diss the engine (very impressive) nor the gameplay (very cool - if you like that style).
Holy Crap Batman.
Shambler dies in his attempt to type properly.

Crysis - based on Far Cry, I fail to see how anyone can diss the engine (very impressive) nor the gameplay (very cool - if you like that style).
All I'm really spooging over at the moment is the thought of what Team Ico are going to do with the PS3. Fuck, I'd just be happy with a straight sequel to Shadow of the Colossus.

These guys are the most exciting design team in the industry at the moment.

Oh, wait "PC games". Curse you and your narrow-minded thread topics, Shambler ;)
Alan Wake - could be interesting, I need a break from run and gun.

Bioshock - it looks too bizarre.

Crysis - video looked damn fun with the little details they've added, but I'm not much into sci-fi/alien shooters and I hate jungles.

ET:QW - I don't play online.

Hellgate London - didn't look interesting but their website design is nice.

HL2:EP2 - not interested.

Huxley - what?

Jericho - graphically it looks good, but silly some monster designs.

Project Offset - not interested.

Savage 2 - who?

Stalker - hurry up!

Supreme Commander - what?

You Are Empty - eh?
Top 3 Most Anticipated Games

...wait, didn't they already release one of those?
Left for Dead has intrigued me. I want to fight from one end of the city to the other with Von by my side as we tear apart hundreds of zombies with chainguns and rocket launchers.
forgot about that. Definitely add left 4 Dead to that list, because it sounds awesome. We can play Terrafusion coop.

You or other players can control the zombies too, so you could spend you time tearing apart humans instead of zombies :)

Though I'd rather play against the AI than humans I think. Humans are too annoying.
Those Interested In Supreme Commander
there's a open-source engine that runs mods made out of TA content, ... Some of the mods are very TA-like.

You _don't_ need TA to run this. But you should own a copy of TA in a legal sense, some textures, models, sounds and scripts I think are taken from TA. It's trying to move to GPL completely.

And the UI is somewhat improved from TA and shows even supcom-like features.
It's very much alive and updated, the next version will have a new map format making it much easier to make new maps (no more huge 16000x16000 textures).
Zombies ! The second most popular Cannonfodder Enemy right after Nazi Soldiers - or so it seems ;).

The Concept for Left 4 Dead sounds a lot like the Zombie Survival Mini-Mod for Garry's Mod 9 ( HL2 ). People start out in a small map with loads of NPC Zombies closing in, and if someone on the Human Team dies, he then becomes a Zombie himself. The Humans can get better Weaponry depending on the Amount of NPC Kills, and the Zombies get Access to different Types of Creatures ( Normal Zombie, Fast Zombie, Headcrab etc ) that they can "be" over time.

Wouldn't be surprised of the "CS Guys" got some Inspiration from that.
Not Saying It's An Original Idea Or Anything But...
with Valve behind it, it is very likely to turn out to be a highly polished and fun game.
Threadcromancy LOL
From the original topic:

Alan Wake - Action/horror thriller? Not really sure what this is about gameplay-wise, but it sure looks nice. BORING.

Bioshock - Very pretty looking underwater steampunk Deus Ex / SS2 FPRPG. What more does one want? WAS GREAT AS WERE SEQUELS.

Crysis - More Far Cry! More graphics! More dirty sneaky tricky gameplay! I'm psyched. WAS GREAT, SEQUELS TAILED OFF.

ET:QW - Might only be an MMOFPS, but the idea and GFX look p1mp. IRRELEVANT MP TOSS.

Hellgate London - Interesting FPRPG set in demon infested London. Could work. SANK WITHOUT TRACE.

HL2:EP2 - Obvious. RIP HALF-LIFE.

Huxley - MMOFPS that looks very much like a UT2kX game with some HL2 settings. Who knows. IRRELEVANT MP TOSS.

Jericho - Clive Barker action/horror game. After Undying, this could be very promising. A long way off but early shots look intriguing. SANK EVEN FURTHER.

Project Offset - early stages for a superb looking proper fantasy FPS... ToTheGame shows this moving to 360, grrr, anyone know any more?? CANCELLED.

Savage 2 - Online medieval FPS/3PS RTS! Looks good and apparently the first one was pretty neat. WHAT??

Stalker - Just for you Daz. If it actually happens, I'm sure it will be cool. SUCCESSFUL, DAZ LOVED IT.

Supreme Commander - Vast scale RTS. People seem to like the idea. CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER NOR CARE.

You Are Empty - Painkiller set in alternate-history Russia! Gameplay looks bland, but Hail Vondur anyway. WHAT??
This Decade's List:
Call Of Cthulhu - the atmospheres, mannnn.

Cyberpunk 2077 - a long way off but a fresh take from a dev with impeccable pedigree.

Dawn Of War 3 - shoddy gameplay trailer, but looks more of the same with added Knights, which is good enough.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - HR made up for IW, series is back on track, looks slick.

Dishonoured 2 - looks like the perfect sequel to a cool fun game.

Dreadnought - neat looking spaceship combat game....but only if it gets the promised SP campaign.

Elex - RPG from them Gothic lot. A mish-mash of every theme in existence, interesting how it will turn out.

Hellraid - another cool-looking fantasy FPS thing. Will this one disappear up it's own arse too? Hope not.

Phoenix Point - grittier looking XCom-style game from original devs who liked the reboots. SOLD.

Prey - not much known but trailer looks intriguing, from Dishonoured devs.

SpaceHulk: Deathwing - Trailer looks perfect as an adaptation of this game. Left 4 Tyranid? Count me in.

Styx: Shards Of Darkness - if you liked the first nifty goblin-themed stealth-em-up, this looks spot on.

Titanfall2 - it's got a proper single player campaign and robosuits. Worth a try.

Plus Elder Scrolls 6, whatever is next from From FROM Software, etc etc.

That's enough for now...
Alan Wake: overrated crap

Bioshock: great

Crysis: great

ETWQ: zero interest in mp dm

Hellgate London: didn't play because it wouldn't work, sadly

Huxley: never heard of it

Jericho: had some good ideas to it, but pretty average

Savage 2: no interest in that sort of game

Stalker: franchise has it's moments and memories, but still very unpolished after 3 games

Supreme Commander: huh?

You Are Empty: laughable, one of the worst games of the decade?
Call Of Cthulhu - Will keep an eye out

Cyberpunk 2077 - Looking forward to a worthy steampunk adventure from these devs!

Dawn Of War 3 - Don't know, don't care.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Loved HR to death so hopefully they don't botch the thing.

Dishonoured 2 - First one was great so would like to expect this one is even greater.

Dreadnought - Don't care.

Elex - Gothic RPGs were pretty fun stuff so eye kept out!

Hellraid - Always have been interested in this but seems like it keeps being teased and that's it.

Phoenix Point - Don't know

Prey - Prey Doom3 Engine (Tommy) was a pretty fun ride so let's see if this one lives up to the prey name.

SpaceHulk: Deathwing - Don't know, don't care.

Styx: Shards Of Darkness - Loved the first one and have been excited since this announcement. The fact that hanging off ledges is a feature shows the devs know what to improve on.

Titanfall2 - Don't give a fluck

Plus Elder Scrolls 6, whatever is next from From FROM Software, etc etc: Will wait with bated breath. Admittedly I would buy TES6 in a heartbeat.
Of course, none of these games can hold a candle to the best gane ever created:

Which is totally not a clone of the old Minesweeper games from early Windows versions.

Wonder who's the great genius behind it ;) .
I'm still thinking PC gaming is in great health at the moment.

Dishonoured 2 is meant to be great, got it stacked up to play. Titanfall 2 SP turned out to be a blast. Deus Ex Mankind Divided still looks good and is also stacked up. OTOH Space Hulk beta was in some need of refining, hopefully it will be patched into polish.

And then we have:

Prey Gameplay trailer aka Dishonoured Space Ex whatever, looks like they are throwing all the gameplay options in, who knows it might work as well as Dishonoured. Monsters look cool too:

And Mass Effect 4 looks pretty nice in a very ME sort of way, could even tempt me to put up with the endless dialogue trees:
Got Mech??

Hopefully they'll update it to this decade's graphics, but a new Mechwarrior game has got to be a good thing.

Same universe, different genre. Despite similarly early status, the functionality of this looks great.
I'm Excited For Cyberpunk 2077
It will probably be a massive disappointment, because I'm looking forward to it so much.
Nah Man
Healthy sceptism is good, but so is a sensible appreciation of a game's chances. And surely the chances with that one are good :).
/me Skates His Cyberdeck Off Shamblernauts Face Onto A Hype Train
I mean, it's CDProjeckt so I think they've earned a good amount of good will :)
Someone Find Me An RTS To Get HYPE About.
Other genres well covered in the future. Apart from DOW3 what else is exciting in the RTS genre?
Not RT but definitely S, Battletech looks cool.
Didn't see post #39. Not much into RTS anyway, the last I extensively played was Total Annihilation...
Warhammer 40k Dawn Of War 3
It's lit
I recommend Verdun - very nice WW1 FPS. Gritty and realistic, squad-based combat. Really feels like WW1 where a single man is nothing, but a squad can influence a battle a liiiitle bit.

Pretty much the only game I play these days
Yet More Games Workshop Potential:

I'm just about to start Mordheim, I've heard it's tough and RNG-plagued but otherwise good.

I'm getting the impression that the state of Games Workshop PC gaming is not amazing....but definitely GOOD, and widespread.
Call Of Cthulhu
Pop Zing Zoop
So is it a TellTale style game or 1st/3rd person something something?
looks to be a 1st person stealth RPG 👌🏼
I Want More
I enjoyed Dark Corners of the Earth. I noticed it has the same title font. I wonder if the two have more in common, like dev team and such.
Wikipedia's Verdun...
Verdun is a squad-based multiplayer *closes tab*
Well called, Kona.

Also was gonna post the Cthulu thing.....the vibes and set-up look great, but the lack of any gameplay / perspective, as Daz's question indicates, gets the HYPE-O-METER wavering a bit.
Promo image reminds me of this:

Dark Corners of the Earth wasn't good imo. I never finished it.
that Sinking City game has me more interested, mainly because its's an actual open world game with a focus on mystery etc.
Nearly A Year On And Where's My Hype At Homies?
Call Of Cthulhu - the atmospheres, mannnn. - still in the works.

Cyberpunk 2077 - a long way off but a fresh take from a dev with impeccable pedigree. - still in the works.

Dawn Of War 3 - shoddy gameplay trailer, but looks more of the same with added Knights, which is good enough. - it's out! Some reports are too MOBA-y but from what I've seen it looks good.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - HR made up for IW, series is back on track, looks slick. - great, sure it's small-scaled and cliched, but a really fun explorathon.

Dishonoured 2 - looks like the perfect sequel to a cool fun game. - still not played this but by all reports it's great.

Dreadnought - neat looking spaceship combat game....but only if it gets the promised SP campaign. - no chance of SP so can fuck off.

Elex - RPG from them Gothic lot. A mish-mash of every theme in existence, interesting how it will turn out. - still a long way away.

Hellraid - another cool-looking fantasy FPS thing. Will this one disappear up it's own arse too? Hope not. - almost certainly vapourware.

Phoenix Point - grittier looking XCom-style game from original devs who liked the reboots. SOLD. - it's funded!

Prey - not much known but trailer looks intriguing, from Dishonoured devs. - 2 days. BioSystem Shock but hey it still looks good. Great-looking monsters.

SpaceHulk: Deathwing - Trailer looks perfect as an adaptation of this game. Left 4 Tyranid? Count me in. - short, unambitious, best in SP only, but good and stylish stealer mashing.

Styx: Shards Of Darkness - if you liked the first nifty goblin-themed stealth-em-up, this looks spot on. - meant to be more of the same but a bit better.

Titanfall2 - it's got a proper single player campaign and robosuits. Worth a try. - well worth a try and indeed top 5 last year. Great fun and amazing graphics. Where is the SP DLC tho??

Battletech - turn-based mech combat, alpha gameplay looks spot on. - where is my fucking backer-funded beta?? Pffft. Anyway, game due sometime later this year.

So there we go, you win some you lose some. Albeit most of the losses are abandoning SP / abandoning the game.

very ueful vid. confident in my backing of this.
This Goes Straight Into The HYPE Thread:

1. Metro

2. Fuck me it looks nice.
Oooh, A New Metro?
Goody! I thought the Metro saga was supposed to be over...? The trailer looks extra yummy, thanks for sharing. Isn't the music taken from The Fountain OST by Clint Mansell? It's the same melody.

Anybody hyped for this?
Trailer is bonkers! Don't miss the final seconds when a character drops acid. Also, ArrrCee reviewed it on his GGRC channel, for those interested.
Yeah that looks awesome. I thought it was supposed to be over too. Guess they changed their mind.

Although, it all seemed like a scripted sequence which I bet doesn't play out like that in the final game. You wouldn't make that spectacular outdoor area only to be over in 30 seconds.

Nah not the Fountain score, it's much more modern, a lot of trailers have used that theme lately (or variations of that theme, as here it's more techy). Not sure where it comes from, clearly inspired by some Hans Zimmer scores. I wouldn't mind knowing where it came from and if it does have a full score, sounds good.
it all seemed like a scripted sequence which I bet doesn't play out like that in the final game.
That's what I was wondering, especially in the sequence with the cliff and zipline. That said, it's supposed to be a gameplay trailer, so ideally it should play out like that.

I too would like to know where the music comes from. Anyone? Maybe a remix of Mansell's work?
Isn't The Music Taken From The Fountain OST By Clint Mansell? It's Th
I believe it's called 'Don abandons Alice' or something like that from "28 weeks later"
Thanks Spy
I Would Guess...
...that the trailer is a highly condensed scripted sequence of gameplay that will take place in that area. Seems entirely natural to have a 5-10 minute segment going through that properly.

Wolf looks cool too although they are milking it a bit now!! This is what, Wolf 5?? Wolf, RTCW, Wofl reboot, Wofl TNO, (Wolf TOB mission pack), this. I know it works well and is fun but....
More Like Wolf 11...
Some Prettiness....

Judgement reserved so hard it hurts on the gameplay / SP functionality, tho.
Holy Fuck, That's Purrty!
And those facial expressions!
That Looks Sick
Looking forward to it
Yep, looks very pretty
I Like Good Graffix
Games are looking nicer and I rejoice in that.

It's bad when games that have promising gameplay lack too much in the graffix department like being badly optimised with bad performance or they just look bad as in having amateurish textures/meshes/animations and so forth.
LOL True Dat.
TBH Anthem looks so good that a Ubi-style downgrade would still be very appealing. Plus lush world, sci-fi, monsters, etc. It's the gameplay and single player aspect that concerns me a lot more.
Is There Actual SP In There?
All I saw was coop in the vid.
Its purdy but still entirely too plastic/fake, the glitzy gfx just make the effect worse or at least non the better than it has always been :
When a 400 Kilo armor suit crashed down at terminal velocity it leaves marks on concrete ->
It feels like a light piece of armor made of plastic that generates "wooomp" sound effect and shoots sparks out of its butthole to impress your 8 year old friends. A toy.
Just Read The Comments
on that YT vid and apparently this is a scripted sequence overdubbed by actors, not actual coop gameplay. Which awakens the ghost of deceptions past as KP & Shambler pointed out. I should have known better. Still hyped though.
Not really much interest in games but you made me look at the video!

Looks pretty but oh my acting, dialogue, music so meh!
Yeah of course the actual set-up is fake as anything. The "dialogue" is pathetic but that's ignorable anywaty.
The Most Exciting Thing About Anthem Is...
...cybear posting on func about it. Hi bear!
Hi Bal!
Hi Lunaran!
Go Play My Map!
You Lot A Rubbish.
Redeem yourself by posting some news / videos showing how utterly thrilling PC gaming will be in the next few years.
PUBG full release : this game is something else. It's lovely to see a high stakes multiplayer fps get some recognition. Bring on the clones!

Star Citizen : Really looking forward to this space sandbox! Maybe it'll be out fully in another 2-3 years? Who knows. I hope the single player campaign is excellent.

XCOM 2 WotC : This expansion looks farking excellent. So much new shit to do. A bit pricey for an X-pac but I'm guaranteed to get my moneys worth from it.

Destiny 2 : Destiny is great on ps4, can't wait to see how it feels on pc with a proper framerate etc.

Wolfenstein 2 - German boogaloo : Gameplay I've seen looks great. Looking forward to the acid trip level, don't let me down czg!!!

Metro Exodus : because of course it's in my list. Gameplay demo shown at whateverthefuckitwas blew my socks off.

Warframe - Tides of Eidolon : Warframe is getting an open world map to explore with everything that entails.. and fishing? Definitely worth a look when it's released.

DayZ full release : It's hitting beta (finally) this year and hopefully that means it'll start becoming a game and less a frustrating test bed. With that said, holy shit I've had some experiences in this thing. Definitely the best wilderness survival sandbox out there thanks to the lack of focus on fucking crafting bullshit and the beautiful world.

Anthem : On the fence with this one. It has the potential to be awesome but I'm firmly in the "wait and see" bucket. Love those suits though :)

Half-Lahahahahahahahahahaha *cries into potty*
Wolfenstein 2 is the only triple A game I am looking forward to this year.
Isnt PUBG Already A Clone Of Whatever Battle Royale PU Was On Before ?
Metro Exodus is the only triple A game I am looking forward to this year.
Has Czg Gone Onto The Professional Scene?
Wolfenstein 2 - German boogaloo : Gameplay I've seen looks great. Looking forward to the acid trip level, don't let me down czg!!!
iirc he worked at Starbreeze (?) then moved to Machine Games. He did Wolf:TNO and the X-pac.
Props To Him!
Must be nice to make a living out of his passion. I wish I did with my music.
He Also Worled On That Skrillex Commercial
Anyone Has More Details
about the maps he worked on for Wolf?
Was Czg Involved At All With
or had he moved on by that point.
Maybe Ask Him?
Movement and headbob look real janky. Crosshair is a bit out of place. Playable areas are underwhelming so far....but....

WorldWarPunk Strategy / Tactics Game??

Dem robots man. Love this style. Also hyped for more RTS especially if it's about combat strategy / tactics and not just endless base-building resource-cock-gobbling political-micro-management bullshit (Total Warhammer I'm looking at you with the last one)/
Ohhh Yeah.

Battletech single player campaign. Be warned AI is disabled for this video, but it's already pretty challenging in the revamped skirmish beta. Proper maps look sweet and the whole thing is shaping up well.
Both of those look pretty good
Another Guaranteed* Cert:

* okay may not be guaranteed, but it's Metro and the vibes are always spot on. i wonder if this one is gearing up to be a bit more non-linear / semi-open?? Could be cool.
Upgrading This To Hype Level Hype.
Based on the 2nd combat they play. Sure it's an XCom clone but with real time exploration thrown in and a theme of it's own.....
Fuck knows about the state of gaming....
What were thoughts of people here about cthulu
Stream Tonight.
Yup. Count me in.
Some 1 Year Delay Hype....
A few timed Epic Malware exclusives to look forward to a year late (hopefully patched and discounted):

Mechwarrior 5
Metro Exodus
The Outer Worlds
Phoenix Point
Rune 2
The Sinking City

(Just noting them down so I remember)
Thumbs Up For Control
After some quick googling wasn't the Epic store pulling these malwarish moves only around the time it was launched, but they were fixed or something? So I decided to trust them for now and bought Control. I figured it would be good to give Steam some competition and support the developers while doing so, since devs get a larger cut from Epic.

Anyway, I really like Control. If you like metroidvanias and exploration, you very well might like this. Also, if you liked HL2's gravity gun, you'll like the well executed telekinesis ability of Control. (Although I have a feeling it's a bit OP. It's still fun, though.)
Yeah Sorry My Mistake
I meant Epic Anti-Competitive Anti-Consumer Store....
Was Chatting To Daz Yesterday.
